Pregnant women are clearly interested in our technology, partly because it gives them more confidence and knowledge about their own health and that of the foetus.

Julien Penders, CEO Bloom Technologies

Digital prenatal care platform for pregnant women

Bloom Technologies NV is a subsidiary of the American company Bloomlife Inc. and a spin-off of Imec. Bloom Technologies develops sensors that pregnant women can wear on their bodies. This way, their pregnancy can be monitored remotely. The doctor sees all the data about the health of the mother and the foetus in a clinical interface and can give feedback to the patient via an app.

As its first specific product, Bloom Technologies wants to offer a sensor that detects contractions. This allows the mother-to-be to know immediately when she should go to the hospital and when it is a false alarm. Better for the mother, for the baby and for healthcare.

Since its founding, PMV has supported the company financially and with a strong local network including investors and clinical trial centres.

PMV, together with its co-investors, has been crucial in providing extra oxygen during the corona crisis, as well as during the transition from a ‘consumer health’, to ‘medical technology’ company.
