Morrow's technology is designed to make traditional multifocal glasses a thing of the past.

Paul Marchal, CEO at Morrow

From multifocal to autofocal

Morrow was founded by Paul Marchal and Jelle De Smet as a spin-off from IMEC and UGent. The two engineers invented a patented technology for ‘autofocal’ glasses as a more comfortable alternative to the classic multifocal glasses. At the touch of a built-in button, the lenses of the autofocal glasses adjust for near or far vision. This means that the wearer always has an equally large field of vision.

The high-tech glasses are technological marvels with nanotechnology in the frame and liquid crystal in the lenses. At the press of the button, a small electric current is sent to the glass through a nanochip. This changes the orientation of the liquid crystal and alters the refraction of the light, thus altering the wearer’s vision. Each pair of glasses is customised and produced with a 3D printer. The first Morrow glasses were sold in the summer of 2021.

Partners in ambition at Morrow

PMV has been one of the structural investors in Morrow since its creation in 2016. PMV has been involved in the start-up capital, in the Series A financing and granted a convertible loan.

By 2022, Morrow will be ready for further commercialisation, automation of production and expansion of its activities to the Netherlands. To facilitate this growth, a second investment round is being prepared.
