ARKimedes
“ARK” stands for Activering van RisicoKapitaal (Activation of Risk Capital). The Greek mathematician Archimedes only needed a fulcrum and a lever to lift the world, a small effort with a great effect. With ARKimedes, PMV takes significant minority interests in so-called ARKIVs. These are private funds that invest in promising SMEs. These are rapidly growing companies. They are the motor of innovation, employment and quality of life.
What is it?
There are two active ARKimedes funds. Each one offers one euro extra for each euro invested by accredited ARKIVs in Flemish starters and SMEs.
• ARKimedes-Fonds nv, since 8 June 2005
Size of fund is EUR 111.1 million.
The money is entirely invested in accredited ARKIVs
• ARKimedes-Fonds II nv, since 4 June 2010
Size of fund is EUR 100 million euro.
Investments in new ARKIVs will start in 2011.
The accreditation procedure for these ARKIVs is under way.
