Oqton is an American/Belgian company, with most of its engineers and programmers based in Ghent and Leuven, led by Ben Schrauwen (CEO Oqton) a former professor at UGent.
3D Systems was a pioneer in the 3D printing world, and today still a leading player in the field of automation in industrial production with its integrated offering of hardware, software and support services. The merger with Oqton fits perfectly with its strategy to further digitally transform the manufacturing world.
Partners in ambition at Oqton
Early 2021, Oqton raised $40M from several investors, including Fortino Capital and PMV. With the active support of the investors, Oqton expanded its team from about 55 to 90 people that year, most of them in Belgium, to further expand both the software platform and build an international sales team.
On 8 September 2021, Oqton merged into US-based 3D Systems (NYSE: DDD). With the acquisition, Oqton also became the R&D hub within 3D Systems, taking charge of all the group’s software activities. CEO Ben Schrauwen and his teams are mainly operating from Ghent and Leuven.
